THE EXPERIENCE

Bassist and producer Ron Jenkins called me to record drums for a new artist he was working with. I didn’t find out until the release that it was for a classmate of mine from Florida State University, Jazmin Ghent. ‘The Story of Jaz’ went on to win Outstanding Jazz Album at the 50th NAACP Image Awards. Live drums recorded at The Spot in Orlando, FL.

I recorded “You Make Me Feel (Like a Natural Woman)” and we all know that Aretha has plenty of classics. Ron communicated that he wanted Jazmin’s cover to have that same vintage feel to it and I adjustment my setup a bit to give my drums the correct voice for this session.
