Education is essential! While we may not all take on a formal method of training, we all find ways to gain more knowledge of our craft by way of studying, watching, and listening to those that have come before us. I believe that private instruction is essential to address small details that will propel young musicians to their fullest potential. It’s little things that matter!
A few concepts that I instill in my students are:
Keeping great time.
Establishing strong grooves.
Playing with clarity.
The importance of reading music.
Most importantly, having fun!
My aim is not to have my students play like me, but to shape each lesson based on their musical desires, while providing them with the foundational tools I believe are necessary to excel in any musical environment.
