THE EXPERIENCE

‘Frames’ is the debut album release from John Krasula. This project was recorded throughout 2019 at John’s studio and the band was brought to learn the music on the spot, create the vibe, and record the music.

I recorded drums on “Frames”, “Scram!”, and the bonus track (released on Bandcamp only) “Interlude”. My approach to “Frames” was to make creative grooves in 5/4 that offered textural changes as the song progressed. Thinking about how to make it feel good helped me to develop phrases over the bar line and keep a feeling of freedom.

“Scram!” was a straight-forward funky vamp with blazing lines from the melodic players. “Interlude” was an additional track from a groove idea of John’s at the end of a session. You can listen to this song and all the records I’ve been a part of on the playlist below!
